Ballston Area Democrats a.k.a. ✨The Baddies✨

The Ballston Area Democrats (B.A.D.) are a newly formed, action-driven coalition based in central Saratoga County, New York.

We connect, coordinate, and collaborate with progressive Ballston Area “Baddies” to stir up some Good Trouble—right here at home.

Distraught? Disgusted? Disillusioned? Now is the time to do something about it. Take action today.

Thank You to everyone who helped make our first Grassroots Gathering a resounding success!

What’s the big, B.A.D. deal?

  • Our goal is simple: to connect neighbors and friends into a strong, active network of progressive people ready to defend and preserve our democracy.

The 1,000+ people who showed up at the No Kings protest in Ballston Spa on 6/14/25 proved that pro-democracy energy is alive and growing in our community. Now is the time to channel that momentum—from the streets to our local government boardrooms.

  • We know there are more of us who care—who want to get involved but aren’t sure where to start. We aim to educate and share resources on policy, history, local power structures, and hyper-local issues to support informed, effective civic engagement at the hyper-local board level.

  • Once we connect and coordinate, we have to collaborate! Ready to collab? We’ve got your back!

We’re here to empower one another to show up, speak out, and push for progressive policies in our local government. Remember when we had neighborhood phone trees? It’s like that, but way cooler 😎

  • Don’t let the “Big D” scare you!
Yes, we’re Democratic voters—but we’re not an official Democratic Committee. We are here to bring together all the “little d’s.” Connecting, coordinating and collaborating with all democratically-minded people across the greater Ballston area, regardless of party affiliation.

If you're pro-democracy, pro-humanity, proactive, progressive, independent, or party-free—you are welcome here!

  • We’re building a network—a coalition of progressive groups across Saratoga County—focused on direct, local civic action.
That means uplifting progressive voices, increasing representation, and advocating for policies in all Town and Village boards in our area.

Our mission is to bring together individuals to build on and partner with established groups and committees. With our combined efforts we aim to create a broad, active, and coordinated network that helps drive progressive policy and elects progressive people to local office.

United we stand up to the man. That’s the plan.

  • Q: Aren’t you “dark money”?

A: If only. As a matter of fact, we have exactly zero money. We do not fundraise, nor do we accept or collect monetary donations. The B.A.D. is an Action Group—we are here to support pro-democracy initiatives in whatever way we can… mostly in our free time when we’re not running small businesses, raising families, or volunteering.

Q: Aren’t you just “making trouble”?

A: If you’re unfamiliar with John Lewis’s 60+ years of social activism and call for ‘Good Trouble’ ... well, perhaps you should Google him. There is nothing violent or even remotely incendiary about our efforts, nor do we support or tolerate hate speech of any kind.

So you want to be B.A.D.?
